Barskoon ice climbing camp

The best place for ice climbing in Central Asia. Many routes of varying difficulty, easy access, good accommodations make it a good starting point for ice climbing.

We will hold two ice climbing courses in January. Come with us!

The courses will be held in Barskoon. It’s in Kyrgyzstan, 30 kilometers to the south of Issyk-Kul. There are several waterfalls of simple to medium difficulty. We will teach basic skills to beginners and will improve technique to those who continue.

Dates

  • January 2-9 (Thursday to Thursday),
  • January 11-18 (Saturday to Saturday).

It’s better to come to Bishkek in the morning of day one and depart on the evening of the last day. Nevertheless, you can stay on each course for a couple of days if you’d want more climbing.

Where to stay: in Tamga, in a warm guest house. Rooms for 2–4 people, hot shower, good breakfasts and dinners, lunchboxes for the day.

How to get there: to Bishkek — as you like. We’ll meet you there and drive to Tamga in approx 5 hours.

Initerary
Day 1. Transfer from Bishkek to Tamga.
Days 2, 3. Intro into Ice Climbing.
Day 4. Rest day. Hike to Issyk-Kul lake. Learn and practice crevasse rescue at the guesthouse backyard.
Days 5, 6 and 7. Climbing ice. We’ll choose objectives to let you have fun.
Day 8. Transfer from Tamga to Bishkek.

Gear: personal equipment + ropes and screws. We’ll work out the details of the equipment when the group gets together.

Cost: € 850. It includes:

  • transfer from Bishkek and back,
  • on-site transfers,
  • food and accommodation in Tamga.

You must have insurance that covers ice climbing. You will also have to sign a liability waiver.
